Mackinlay described the fair as having taken place "in a festive atmosphere, and without incident", and said that the city has already started planning for FITA 2013.
FITA organizers placed more emphasis on meetings industry professionals this year, bringing 40 qualified planners to the event from the US and other countries, and offering a special paviliion for meetings and business tourism. Mackinlay estimates that destinations presenting at FITA 2012 may have secured as many as 15 interational congresses as a result of the exposure.
