Mexico City Moves up in ICCA Rankings

Mexico City continues to move up in the statistics published by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the education and advocacy organization for the international meetings industry. Since 2007, Mexico City has risen from  62nd most active city for international events, to its current position of 39.
Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard says he is satisfied with the result. "We've improved our ranking significantly, we had the issue with the influenza epidemic [in 2009] but now we're in a new phase. We're very pleased."
The city presented its Summer 2012 Tourism Campaign in the Museum of Economics located in the city's Historical Center, inviting Mexican and international tourists to spend their vacations in the capital.
Mexico City's Secretary of Tourism Carlos Mackinlay expects that the city will attract 2.35 million tourists this summer to 662 city hotels, activity that is expected to bring in $93 billion pesos ($689 million USD) in revenue.
